Niagara Falls in August

Niagara Falls in August

Can you believe already August?! Where did July go? We’re down to our last month of Summer before the kids are back in school? Before we’re back to routine? Before it’s Fall? How did that happen?

Okay, let’s keep calm. We still have all of August to enjoy!! And there are some great events happening in Niagara Falls in August! Some really great ones, we promise. If you haven’t been to Niagara Falls this Summer, you have to check out all of the fun that’s happening right beneath our feet…well because we’re just footsteps from so much of the fun.

We also feel the need to separate the fun into two categories. Many of us have children and we truly do love them, but there are times when we need a little grown-up time <wink, wink>.

Niagara Falls Family Fun

Clifton Hill

It’s literally 417 footsteps from our hotel. No need to pack up the car, just walk out the front doors of the hotel and you’re there in less than 5 minutes. It’s a kid haven…we all know. And each year it gets better and better. If you purchase our Kids Love Niagara Package, the Clifton Hill Fun Passes are part of the experience, which means that you and your family can enjoy the following fun-filled attractions: Niagara SkyWheel, Movieland Wax Museum, Dinosaur Adventure Miniature Golf or Wizard Golf, Ghostblasters Dark Ride, Wild West Coaster, plus the new Zombie Attack and 5 Bonus Midway Tokens. You can also just purchase the Fun Passes if you’ve already booked your accommodations. Plus they just launched the hottest new attraction, the Niagara Speedway and trust us, this is a fun experience for the whole family. Just make sure you use the bathroom before you line up (we might have a little experience in this department).

Science Sundays

If you love nature and believe in keeping your children involved in educational activities during the Summer, then Science Sundays is for you. Every Sunday in August, visit the Niagara Glen Nature Centre for some fun science demonstrations which take place at 11:30am and 2pm (demonstrations are approx. 10 -15 minutes). You can continue the fun by participating in the Nature Exchange. This program allows families to learn, trade and collect natural items that help them learn about the world around them.

Whirlpool Adventure Course

This attraction is really close to the Niagara Glen and can be enjoyed before or after fun with science. If your kids are adventurous, this is the perfect experience for them. Your kiddos will be suspended high above the Niagara Gorge, overlooking the swirling waters of the Niagara Whirlpool. There are three self-paced courses which include dozens of climbing, ziplining and jumping courses. We promise you’ll never hear a “Mom, I’m bored” moment during this action-packed. adventure.

Safari Niagara

With this attraction, you will have to hop in the car. It’s a 20 minute car ride, but well worth it. Safari Niagara is a whole day adventure. It’s home to over 1000 native and exotic mammals, reptiles and birds. There’s also free educational shows, a splash pad, and kid zone area with a park, sandbox, and popular activities like Sky Quest Ropes Course and Bounce-A-Rooz jumping pillows. Us “local” folk have been many times and continue to enjoy this attraction once or twice each summer.

Grown-up Fun

We understand that as grown-ups you need an afternoon or night without your loving children. So trust us when we say there is plenty of fun-filled activities to keep you busy.

Wine and Craft Beer

There are over 100 wineries to choose from, so you’ll have to keep coming to Niagara every season to experience them all. Here are some of our favouritesCraft beer is also gaining popularity in Niagara, so you’ll have to check them out as well. Niagara Oast House Brewers is one of our must-experience micro-breweries with seasonal beer on tap and their menu is simply delish!

Niagara Falls Valentine’s Day

Niagara Falls Valentine’s Day…the countdown begins

The countdown to one of the sweetest days of the years begins. Whether you’ll be celebrating with an intimate dinner at home or doing something more grandiose…like closing your eyes, doing the old spin around and seeing where your finger lands on the map. Always know that whatever you plan, whether big or small, what matters most is that you are with that special someone that makes your heart go pitter patter.

Niagara Falls is known for being one of the most romantic places to be any day of the year (not just on Valentine’s Day). After all it has been coined the ‘Honeymoon Capital of the World.’

Here’s a list of some of the most desired things to do to make your Niagara Falls Valentine’s Day one that will be remembered for years to come:

The Music Scene

Music definitely plays a big role when it comes to romance. And speaking of romance, there are a lot of Niagara Falls Casino Concerts happening just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Jersey Nights – Feb. 6th – 13th – Celebrate the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons with Jersey Nights. Featuring some of their greatest hits – Sherry, Let’s Hang On, December 1963, Walk Like a Man

Boys II Men – Feb. 14th – 15th – Reminisce to some of their R & B Classics: I’ll Make Love to You, End of the Road, On Bended Knee

Wayne Brady – Feb. 16th – 17th – You’ll Laugh Out Loud when you see Five-Time Emmy winner and Grammy nominee, Wayne Brady in action

Some Kind of Wine-der-ful

Niagara Wine Country is the place to be this Valentine’s Day with so many delicious events.

Days of Wine and Chocolate – weekends in February from 11am  – 5pm

Experience over 20 VQA wines matched with chocolate-infused dishes – from classically sweet flavour combinations to unexpected surprises. This is definitely a romantic celebration for two.

Vino and Cocoa – Monday – Saturdays and Sundays – 1:30 – 2:30pm

Back for another year, this popular trend continues. This is an interactive experience you won’t want to miss. Sample four premium chocolates from around the world paired with award-winning VQA wines.

Plus create your own wine country s’more using Chef Parsons’ famous Icewine marshmallows and use a Brule torch to melt gourmet chocolate to perfection. This is something you definitely won’t do every day!

And since we are on the topic of Niagara Wineries, there are over 100 to choose from, so you could literally be sampling and touring for weeks. Check out the list of Niagara Wineries.

Things are Brewing Just in Time for Valentine’s Day

Niagara is also becoming known for its ever-growing Micro-Breweries. And to make it simple, just follow the Niagara Ale Trail, which will lead you to some of the best micro-breweries in the Region.

Niagara Ale Trail

The Way to a Man/Woman’s Heart is Through Their Stomach

Niagara is also over-flowing with some fantastic restaurants. Name the cuisine and Niagara has it.

Who doesn’t like steak and seafood? Our favourite is the traditional and always consistently good, Keg Steakhouse + Bar, located in the lobby of the Courtyard Marriott Niagara Falls. Just ignore all of the listed calories on the new menus, because this day is all about indulgence. How about starting with some shareable appetizers, such as scallops and bacon or baked brie? For the main course, you can never go wrong with the Keg classics: Prime Rib, Top Sirloin or a Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon (everything tastes better with bacon). Nothing says romance like sharing a dessert, half the calories, double the fun. The perfect ending to an exceptional meal?! You have to try the traditional Billy Miner Pie or the Crème Brûlée?

We weren’t joking when we said – name the cuisine and Niagara has it.

Italian – Antica Pizza, Bravo, Carpaccio’s | Greek – Koutouki | Indian – Moksha | Japanese – Wind

Dreams Do Come True

If your Valentine’s Day consisted of the ‘closing your eyes, spinning around 3 times and landing on Niagara Falls’ routine, then your 2018 is all about crossing things off of your bucket list and having fun! And have we got one of the most romantic Niagara Falls Valentine’s Packages for you. You’ll love our limited time, One Night Romance Package starting at $119 per night which includes: accommodations, breakfast buffet, dinner voucher for The Keg or T.G.I. Fridays, a bottle of wine with keepsakes wine glasses, chocolates, wine tasting, beer tasting, cheese tasting and a lavender culinary experience. This dream can certainly come true in one click.

Out of all the Niagara Falls Hotels, the Courtyard is just footsteps from all of the fun: Niagara Falls during the day, afternoon and night (you’ve got to check out Niagara Falls in the Winter). Plus the Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino are so close you can see both of them from your guestroom, plus all of the incredible Niagara Falls Events (listed above) are moments away. Plus the Skylon Tower will be lit in pink to make your Niagara Falls Valentine’s Day extra special.

FUN and Free Valentine’s Cards

And speaking of fun, check out all of these fun and free Valentine’s Day Cards to share with that special someone. Feel free to post some of your favourite pics on our instagram page

The Top Five Niagara Falls Canada Attractions

The Top Five Niagara Falls Canada Attractions

Niagara Falls continues to amaze us with ever-evolving new and exciting attractions.

Here are our top five Niagara Falls Canada Attractions that you MUST experience:

#1 Hornblower Niagara Cruises

If you haven’t yet experienced the wonderment of this watercraft attraction, well you simply must. You can experience it day or night, as there are many cruise options to choose from:

Voyage to the Falls Boat Tour

This is a 20 minute exhilarating boat cruise that provides spectacular views of the American, Bridal Veil and gets right into the mist of our personal favourite, the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Hold on tight because this is a thrilling boat tour that will leave you speechless.

Falls Illumination Cruise

Experience 40 minutes of getting to know our natural wonder, Niagara Falls at night. This is a sensory experience that your eyes and ears will love. You won’t believe how close you get to both the American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls and to see both Falls illuminated in all colours of the rainbow and the spectacular skyline of the city – ummm breathtaking.

Fireworks Cruise

This cruise is similar to the Falls Illumination Cruise, but also includes an extraordinary display of the fireworks over the Falls (your kids might even use the word “epic” to describe this experience).

Check out the Day Cruise for yourself:

#2 Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours

This one is equally as exhilarating as #1 and will definitely get your heart racing. This 45 minute to 1 hour journey will be one history and geology lesson you will be talking about for years. You’ll learn important facts about the majestic Niagara River and experience class 5 whitewater rapids first hand. Be sure to hold on to your seats for a ride of a lifetime.

#3 Journey Behind the Falls

With this Niagara Falls attraction, you’ll take a journey deep below (45 metres (150 ft.) through bedrock to tunnels) leading to the awe-inspiring Niagara Falls and YES you WILL get WET! The mighty Niagara Falls mist will tumble from 13 storeys above.

Now here are some cool facts (again more history lessons – it’s a win-win situation for you and your kids):

  • over 2,800 cubic metres of water thunders over the brink every second, traveling 65 kilometres per hour
  • you’ll experience the awesome spectacle of one-fifth of the world’s fresh water crashing down to the basin below

#4 Whirlpool Aero Car

On this spectacular attraction you will soar the Great Gorge above the Niagara River in an antique cable car (your kids might be thinking “archaic”, but by the end (trust us) they will be thinking “awesome”). During this ride you’ll see the thunderous rapids of the Niagara Whirlpool right below you (this is the point where “archaic” turns to “awesome”).

The whirlpool aero car travels safely between two different points of the Canadian shore of the Niagara River over the spectacular Whirlpool. A round trip is about one kilometre (3,600 feet) and can carry up to 35 standing passengers. Be sure to explore the White Water Walk and experience the raging rapids that twist and turn right before your very eyes.

#5 a) Ziplining Niagara Falls

This unbelievable attraction is now very much alive and is one of the most talked about Niagara Falls Canada Attractions.

The MistRider Zipline will soar high and fast towards the breathtaking Niagara Falls.

This is how it’s set to work:

  • there will be four parallel ziplines travelling at 670 metres (2,200 feet) through the wild river gorge, where you will experience picture perfect views of the American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls
  • Pricing is currently expected to be $49.99 per person
  • Minimum age is 7 years old (rider must weigh between 65 and 300lbs)
  • Youth under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult

Pre-book your adventure today!

b) Whirlpool Adventure Course

This is a thrilling and adventurous new experience that is sure to bring out your inner child. This course involves suspended obstacles and ziplines high above the Whirlpool and Great Gorge. There will be three self-paced courses which involve climbing, ziplining, jumping, and swinging aerial games.

‘What’s to Fear Jump’

This is a loose line leap from 40-feet (yes you heard us correctly – 40 feet)! The heart-pounding plummet to terra firma (here’s your chance to polish up your latin skills) is a mental and physical adrenaline-rush for people age seven to adult. The ‘What’s to Fear Jump’ can be done as a stand-alone activity, or to enhance WildPlay’s Whirlpool Adventure Course experience.

Prices range from $19.99 to $39.99

We don’t have any cool pictures or videos to share at this point, but when we do you’ll be the first to see them or feel free to send us some shots of your great adventures.

Are you ready for some awe-inspiring new adventures this summer? Be sure to check out all of these incredible Niagara Falls Canada Attractions very soon! And get ready to add some good old memories to that memory bank of yours.

While we are big supporters of showing the one you love you appreciate and adore them, our belief is you don’t have to dedicate one day of the year to show them.  So rather than focusing on one day, we are calling the whole month of February – the month of LOVE. Plus if you live in Canada, we certainly need something to celebrate in February, because let’s be honest with ourselves, we’re all silently (or maybe loudly) counting down to Spring.

Here are all the fabulous romantic things to do in Niagara Falls with your favourite someone:

For the Love of Music

There are a lot of Niagara Falls Concerts for all music enthusiasts happening on both sides of the border.

Seneca Niagara Casino

Richard Marx (solo) – February 18th (a favourite with the ladies)

Hotel California Eagle Tribute – February 20th (what a great tribute)

Tracy Morgan – February 26th (it’s a night full of laughter)

Fallsview Casino

Taylor Dane – February 12th (okay, it’s a little girly, but it’s because you love her)

Michael Bolton – February 13th and 14th (the ladies love Michael)

Dancing Pros Live – February 18th – 25th (do it for her)

Little Big Town – February 27th and 28th (you’ll be in her good books if you can get tickets for this one)

For the Love of Wine – Niagara-on-the-Lake Wineries

Days of Wine and Chocolate – Feb 6th – Feb. 28th (weekends in February).

It’s a weekend filled with VQA wines and decadently sweet and savoury chocolate pairings (need we say more). 23 Wineries. Touring passes are $35 each.

Wine & Paint Classes – 13th Street Winery – Feb. 8th or Feb. 15th – 6pm – 9pm

Let wine inspire your inner artist during a three hour painting class led by local artists, Melanie Davies Persia or Julie Snider. Classes are $44.95 per class.

Snowshoeing in the Vineyards – Saturdays and Sundays at 11:30am and 1:30pm until the end of March – Thirty Bench Winery.
Get ready for a truly unique, Canadian experience this winter and snowshoe or hike through Thirty Bench’s Riesling vineyards! A local Snowshoe expert will teach you tips and best trekking methods while their wine consultant guides you through samples of Thirty Bench wines amongst the snow covered vines. Afterwards, enjoy a warm cup of soup from The Good Earth, while sitting outside by the fire. $30 per guest, exclusive of taxes. Includes snowshoes, guided trek, wine tastings, and a Thirty Bench souvenir GoVino glass to take home, as well as a warm cup of soup from The Good Earth.

*Soup is Vegan and gluten free

**If mother nature fails to blanket the vineyards with snow, the event will still proceed as a hike through the vineyards. Please provide 48 hours’ notice to cancel your reservation for a full refund. Also, please arrive 15 minutes prior to your start time.

Chicks and Chocolate – Peller Estates Winery

Spend an afternoon with the chicks that you love in your life. From Monday – Friday at 2pm and weekends at 2pm and 4pm, visit Peller Estates Winery for wine and chocolate pairings. Plus learn how the two in combination complement each other and can awaken your senses (the educational aspect and the antioxidants from the chocolate (if dark) and wine will make you feel good).

For the Love of Food – Niagara Falls Restaurants

For all the steak and seafood lovers out there, come and celebrate the month of love at The Keg Steakhouse + Bar, located in the lobby of the Courtyard by Marriott Niagara Falls. Start with some shareable appetizers, such as Mushrooms Neptune or the Baked Brie. For the main course, you can never go wrong with the Keg classics: Prime Rib, Top Sirloin or a Filet Mignon (this is making me hungry just writing about it). End your romantic evening with their famous Billy Miner pie, crème brulée or sweet minis (a fudge brownie and mango brulée) and be sure to ask for two spoons.

For the Love of Sleep

Nothing is more romantic than getting away for a few days. The Courtyard by Marriott Niagara Falls has a few sweet Niagara Falls Romance Package Deals right now. Our favourite is the Ultimate One Night Romance Package starting at $119 per night which includes: accommodations, breakfast buffet, dinner voucher for The Keg or T.G.I. Fridays, cocktails at the Keg, a bottle of wine and keepsake glasses, hershey kisses, wine tasting, beer tasting, cheese tasting, fudge tasting and a lavender culinary experience and shuttle passes. At this price, how can you resist?

Out of all the Niagara Falls Hotels, the Courtyard is just footsteps from all of the fun: Niagara Falls, Casino Niagara, the Fallsview Casino, Journey Behind the Falls and other Niagara Falls attractions. Check out all the fun in our latest Courtyard Video.

Make room for a little fun this whole month of love.
