Raise a Glass to the 61st Annual Niagara Wine Festival

Make the Niagara Wine Festival 2012 your family tradition.

As a local resident of Niagara, this time of year always brings a smile to my face. It’s a time of celebration. A celebration of being blessed with so many fine Niagara wineries, and gourmet restaurant establishments. Raise a glass to the rich, fertile soil and cool-climate of the Niagara Peninsula and of course to those hard-working vintners and restaurant owners with one clear vision: to make people happy with grape expectations and delicious food.

The 61st Annual Niagara Wine Festival is an annual event that cannot, I repeat cannot be missed. Why? Because it is Canada’s largest annual celebration of Ontario’s award-winning wineries and vineyards. The location could not be more perfect. Montebello Park is the ideal setting to celebrate all of Niagara’s natural gifts.

This year is full of non-stop entertainment for two weekends. Starting on Friday, September 21st, don’t miss the Niagara Wine Festival Entertainment Lineup. Platinum Blonde, 2010 Canadian Music and Broadcast Hall of Famers will be performing from 9 - 10:30pm and Canadian phenomenon, Walk Off the Earth will be closing this spectacular event on Sunday, September 30th.

Don’t miss the CIBC Grande Parade on Saturday, September 29th. This is a tradition that many families look forward to year after year. From the marching bands, drum corps, community groups, majorettes, floats and amazing performances, the Grande Parade is the perfect way to start your Saturday.

With over 30 Niagara wineries to choose from, the hardest part will be deciding which one. Of all the Ontario wineries, Niagara has some of the finest. For the full list and more, click here, as there are far too many to name.

Be sure to check out the list of featured events, as the 10 days are jam-packed with fun and excitement for all ages.

So Raise your branded “Niagara Wine Festival” glass to another wine-der-ful event.

The excitement doesn’t have to stop at the Niagara Wine Festival, be sure to book your accommodations at the Niagara Falls Courtyard by Marriott hotel. Out of all of the Niagara Falls hotels, we are the one that is located in the “centre of it all.”

Are you fast enough to become the Red Bull Crashed Ice 2013 Champion?

Do you have what it takes to be the next Red Bull Crashed Ice 2013 Champion?

Red Bull Crashed Ice is on a mission to find Canada’s most daring athletes to take on this extreme ice cross downhill challenge. From September 4th until September 30th, fearless male and female athletes from across the country are invited to register online for their chance to participate in one of the 12 qualifying events that will take place across Canada in October. Check out the video to see if you have what it takes?

NEW THIS YEAR: Even though there are two Canadian stops, athletes will only have one chance to compete in the 2013 world championship, with one registration process and one round of qualifiers for both Canadian stops.

A lottery will randomly select 200 men and 20 women (per qualifying city) to participate in each qualifying event, which consists of individual speed trials on a traditional ice-hockey surface. Red Bull Crashed Ice will also allow 50 walk-up spots per qualifying city (as time permits and registration allows). The 50 walk-ups (first come, first serve) will join the 200 men and 20 women selected via the lottery eligible to take part in the qualifiers as they all vie to skate into Niagara Falls.

The top participants from each qualifier (100 men and 20 women in total) who demonstrate the best speed, skill, agility, and strength will earn a spot to battle to the bottom of the massive ice course in Niagara Falls, ON. After the race in Niagara Falls on December 1st, the top 64 Canadian men and 16 women will earn their spot for the season finale race in Quebec City.

This is a once in a lifetime event. Don’t miss out!
