The 15th Annual Niagara Falls International Marathon

The Niagara Falls International Marathon, October 21st, 2012.

The 15th annual Niagara Falls International Marathon, happening on October 21st 2012 is a true testiment of one’s mental and physical strength, whether you choose to run the 5k, 10k, 1/2 Maraton, Marathon Relay or Full Marathon.

The Niagara Falls International Marathon is still one of the only Marathons in the world to start in one country and finish in another. The first 6.5K (4 miles) of the race is along the majestic parkway of Buffalo before crossing the Peace Bridge into the historic old town of Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. The course continues along the elegantly landscaped and scenic Niagara Parkway for the next 18 miles. Coming into Chippawa, the course bears left around an inlet and leads into the picturesque village. As you approach that turn you see the billowing spray of the Falls for the first time, as well as the first intake gates of the hydropower system that furnishes electricity to both countries. The course then moves back into the majesty of the Parkway. The Niagara Parks Commission’s elegant flowerbeds make their first appearance and Dufferin Islands appears on the left. The last half-mile, gratifyingly downhill and flat, takes you to the brink of the Falls.

Upon completion of the 26.2 miles, you have arrived at the most famous Finish Line in the world, and one of the Wonders of the World, the magnificent Niagara Falls!

The Niagara Falls Marathon was voted in the Top 13 Stunning and Scenic Marathons in Canada (out of 64 Marathons in Canada). This event is also a Boston Marathon Qualifier.

There is much more happening than just the Marathon itself. Be sure to check out all of the activities:

- Running Room Breakfast

- 2 Day Health and Fitness Expo at the Skylon Tower

- The Schools Marathon Challenge

- Vibrant Volunteer Program

The Niagara Falls International Marathon 2012 is a proud supporter of numerous charities, including the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
