Niagara Falls in August

Niagara Falls in August

Can you believe already August?! Where did July go? We’re down to our last month of Summer before the kids are back in school? Before we’re back to routine? Before it’s Fall? How did that happen?

Okay, let’s keep calm. We still have all of August to enjoy!! And there are some great events happening in Niagara Falls in August! Some really great ones, we promise. If you haven’t been to Niagara Falls this Summer, you have to check out all of the fun that’s happening right beneath our feet…well because we’re just footsteps from so much of the fun.

We also feel the need to separate the fun into two categories. Many of us have children and we truly do love them, but there are times when we need a little grown-up time <wink, wink>.

Niagara Falls Family Fun

Clifton Hill

It’s literally 417 footsteps from our hotel. No need to pack up the car, just walk out the front doors of the hotel and you’re there in less than 5 minutes. It’s a kid haven…we all know. And each year it gets better and better. If you purchase our Kids Love Niagara Package, the Clifton Hill Fun Passes are part of the experience, which means that you and your family can enjoy the following fun-filled attractions: Niagara SkyWheel, Movieland Wax Museum, Dinosaur Adventure Miniature Golf or Wizard Golf, Ghostblasters Dark Ride, Wild West Coaster, plus the new Zombie Attack and 5 Bonus Midway Tokens. You can also just purchase the Fun Passes if you’ve already booked your accommodations. Plus they just launched the hottest new attraction, the Niagara Speedway and trust us, this is a fun experience for the whole family. Just make sure you use the bathroom before you line up (we might have a little experience in this department).

Science Sundays

If you love nature and believe in keeping your children involved in educational activities during the Summer, then Science Sundays is for you. Every Sunday in August, visit the Niagara Glen Nature Centre for some fun science demonstrations which take place at 11:30am and 2pm (demonstrations are approx. 10 -15 minutes). You can continue the fun by participating in the Nature Exchange. This program allows families to learn, trade and collect natural items that help them learn about the world around them.

Whirlpool Adventure Course

This attraction is really close to the Niagara Glen and can be enjoyed before or after fun with science. If your kids are adventurous, this is the perfect experience for them. Your kiddos will be suspended high above the Niagara Gorge, overlooking the swirling waters of the Niagara Whirlpool. There are three self-paced courses which include dozens of climbing, ziplining and jumping courses. We promise you’ll never hear a “Mom, I’m bored” moment during this action-packed. adventure.

Safari Niagara

With this attraction, you will have to hop in the car. It’s a 20 minute car ride, but well worth it. Safari Niagara is a whole day adventure. It’s home to over 1000 native and exotic mammals, reptiles and birds. There’s also free educational shows, a splash pad, and kid zone area with a park, sandbox, and popular activities like Sky Quest Ropes Course and Bounce-A-Rooz jumping pillows. Us “local” folk have been many times and continue to enjoy this attraction once or twice each summer.

Grown-up Fun

We understand that as grown-ups you need an afternoon or night without your loving children. So trust us when we say there is plenty of fun-filled activities to keep you busy.

Wine and Craft Beer

There are over 100 wineries to choose from, so you’ll have to keep coming to Niagara every season to experience them all. Here are some of our favouritesCraft beer is also gaining popularity in Niagara, so you’ll have to check them out as well. Niagara Oast House Brewers is one of our must-experience micro-breweries with seasonal beer on tap and their menu is simply delish!
