Niagara Falls Family Day

Niagara Falls Family Day

Wasn’t Family Day one of the best inventions ever?  To be able to spend the entire day with your family and also be considered a statutory holiday in Ontario. Canada is a great place to live and Niagara Falls is a great place to spend the weekend or the day with your family.

Here is what a Niagara Falls Family Day Looks Like:

#1 Sleepover at a Hotel – really it’s true. Kids love sleeping over at hotels. Some kids don’t even want to leave the room. They just want to have pillow fights, watch movies, stay in their jammies all day, eat lots of snacks and have a bubble bath.  They do however love the pool and if there is an arcade room…well they might leave their room for that too! And they love breakfast buffets, which is perfect because the Courtyard Marriott Niagara Falls hotel has a great one: waffles, bacon, customized omelettes, scrambled eggs, breakfast breads, cereal, toast…the list goes on.

#2 Clifton Hill – if you have kids under 12, we all know that they LOVE venturing over to the “Street of Fun” and experiencing the Great Canadian Midway. With over 70,000 square feet of F-U-N (featuring games, the Ghost Blasters Dark Ride, Strike Rock N’ Bowl, Glow in the Dark mini golf and the Niagara SkyWheel). Plus this steep hill also has haunted houses and museums for the whole family to enjoy!

#3 Get one with Nature

Have your kids get one with nature during family day! There are lots of fun ways to keep those little minds educated.

Butterfly Conservatory

This lush tropical rainforest setting is the perfect morning or afternoon retreat for kids of all ages (adults included). Over 2000 butterflies and 45 different species call this space home. Plus it’s a great learning resource where kids can learn about how caterpillars transform into beautiful butterflies. Check back for Family Day and March Break Events.

Wild Ontario returns to the Butterfly Conservatory beginning February 17th (just in time for Family Day weekend) and runs until April 29th. This incredible exhibit highlights the biodiversity in Ontario. This is an exciting chance to experience the 5 most well-known classes of animals: mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, fish and invertebrate. In addition to the live exhibit, there are panel displays which focus on other Ontario species including those at risk, major ecosystems and what people in Ontario and around the world can do to assist species in their communities and their own backyards.

Bird Kingdom

The Bird Kingdom is an adventure for the whole family with levels and levels of fun! Start at the Old Museum, which will take you back in time and give you a little history about Niagara Falls and the Bird Kingdom (parents you’ll love this). Next up, is the Animal Encounters area where you will do just that…come face-to-face with exotic birds, reptiles and animals from around the world. Get ready to explore the Night Jungle which is home to owls, bats and fascinating nocturnal creatures. And just when you think it’s over, you’ll discover the Open Aviary, where exotic birds fly freely in this multi-level rainforest. Plus there’s Lorikeet Landing, where kids can feed and interact with the lorikeet birds.

Kids receive 50% off regular admission (children 3 – 15 years old). Kids under 2 are free.

#4 Vintage Parks Canada Outdoor Skating Rink

Weather pending, enjoy this incredible outdoor skating rink with your whole family. Plus you can take a break whenever you want and sip some hot cocoa by the fire or enjoy some warm snacks with your family. Skate rentals are available.
