Courtyard Marriott Niagara Falls Hotels Blog
After years of planning, Niagara Falls is pleased to announce that their dream of hosting the GranFondo has become a reality. This inaugural event will invigorate passionate cyclists with a breathtaking 125 km route which both starts and finishes at the world famous Horseshoe Falls, travels along the world-renowned Niagara Parkway, through Niagara Wine Country, and the picturesque countryside of the Niagara Region and Niagara Escarpment including the winding hills around the ShortHills ProvincialPark.
This event is one for both competitive athletes and the adventure seeker who is more interested in seeing the sites of Niagara and enjoying the fruits of our labour – like fine Niagara wine and our farm to table cuisine. Oh, and we can’t forget to mention one of our favourite parts of the 125 km, the “Rest Stops,” (besides the incredible views of course). These stops will allow you to catch your breath, wet your whistle with some of Niagara’s finest wines and satisfy those good old taste buds with some amazing Niagara cuisine. After all, that’s what Niagara Wine Country is all about…pure indulgence.
The event itself is on Saturday, September 14th, but why not plan your vacation around the event? You could spend a week in Niagara: touring the 70 plus Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries, visiting the famous Niagara Falls and all of its fun-filled, man-made and mother nature inspired attractions, and enjoying the great Niagara outdoors. There’s Niagara’s premier golf courses, the various hiking and biking trails of the Niagara Escarpment and the Niagara Parkway, plus the hundreds of annual events throughout the Niagara Region. It just happens that the Niagara Wine Festival starts the same day as the GranFondo Niagara Falls, so there will be plenty of time to savour the grape-expectations of Niagara.
So what are you waiting for? Start planning your Fall getaway to Niagara. The Niagara Falls Courtyard by Marriott is a proud partner of the GranFondo Niagara and just minutes from the start and finish line.
