Niagara Falls Canada Day | Niagara Falls Fourth of July

Here are some of our favourite ways to celebrate Niagara Falls Canada Day and Niagara Falls Fourth of July.

Fireworks over the Falls

We love to celebrate with a big bang every Friday and Sunday throughout the summer. So of course we are going to do something special for our Country’s Birthday and the Birthday of our Great Neighbour (or should be say Neighbor?). Come and join us on July 1st and 4th for some spectacular eye candy in the sky. Plus don’t miss the Coca Cola Concert Series on the Queen Victoria Stage right across from Niagara Falls which happens every evening right before the Fireworks.

Canada Day Parade

Nothing says patriotism like a Canada Day Parade. The festivities start at 11am along Victoria Avenue to Queen Street ending on St. Clair Avenue. Following the parade, get ready for some musical entertainment at City Hall starting at 12:30pm until 9pm. And you can’t have a birthday celebration without birthday cake, plus free face painting and more.

Friendship Festival

Can you believe that we’ve been celebrating the Friendship Festival for 29 years? The Friendship Festival is all about the good relations between Canada and the United States since the end of the War of 1812. Come and celebrate from June 26th – 28th with fabulous food, fun and musical entertainment (live country music – Josh Gracin, Jamie O’Neal, Chadley Chase and Arms of America – U2 Tribute Band) And you can’t miss the “2015 Festivals Got Talent.”

Market at the Village – every Wednesday Night

Every Wednesday starting at 4:30pm until dusk, come to the Market at the Village in Niagara-on-the-Lake and be sure to bring your appetite and your dancing shoes. Featuring some fabulous local food vendors, wineries and microbreweries. This is the perfect place to paint the town red and white in honour of Canada.

Summer of Thrills – every Thursday – Monday starting July 2nd

The name says it all – featuring fabulous street performers and death-defying daredevils. New this year – The Sky Scraping Sway Pole.

Niagara Wineries

Speaking of great wineries and microbreweries, Niagara is definitely not short of some great places to raise a glass to patriotism. Visit Niagara Wine Country where you’ll find over 70 Niagara Wineries to choose from.

Niagara Microbreweries

If something “hoppy” is what you are looking for, check out Niagara Oast House Brewers (just look for the Big Red Barn past the Old Oak) or Silversmith in Niagara-on-the-Lake (just look for the church and old church from 1894 converted in a microbrewery). You will be pleasantly surprised with both.

Get Musical

There are also a few musical events to get you in the holiday spirit.

The Steve Miller Band with special guest Miller and the Sinners – June 30th at 6:30pm. The Steve Miller Band needs no introduction.

Marianas Trench – July 1st at 6:30pm – A Canadian Pop Band from British Columbia. The band has released three full length studio albums, the most recent titled, Ever After, which was nominated for a Juno Award.

And we know of the perfect place to stay during the festivities. Make room for A LOT of Fun at the Courtyard by Marriott Niagara Falls. We’ve Got a Package with Your Name on it: One Night, Two Night, Romance, Family Fun and one for the Girls.

Happy Celebrating!

These are just a few of the events we love and it’s only the beginning of Spring (even though it doesn’t feel like it).

Red Bull Wings for Life World Run

Red Bull Wings for Life World Run

You’ll definitely need your wings on May 3rd, 2015 when the Wings for Life World Run comes to Niagara Falls. This is a truly one-of-a-kind global running event, which will take place at 40 race sites across 6 continents around the world, simultaneously. And Niagara Falls, is the host of the Canadian race site (this definitely deserves a big hands in the air cheer).

This event is for everyone. Whether you are running for the fun of it or whether you are in it to win, this is going to be one of those running events you will never forget.

This is how it works.

At 7am EST on May 3rd more than 100,000 runners across 6 continents and more than 30 countries will simultaneously surge across the starting line of one of the largest ever worldwide running events. Here’s the catch – there is no finish line, no set distance, no set time. You are participating with and against every runner across 6 continents simultaneously. The finish line is a non-traditional one – it’s a catcher car. Once that catcher car passes you, you are out of the race. There will be one man and one woman left standing at the end of the race and coined the Wings for Life champions.

And the whole world will be watching via a livestream at www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com

This philanthropic event is sponsored by Red Bull with one ultimate goal in mind – to run for those who can’t run and find a cure for paralyzing spinal cord injuries. It is estimated that 3 Million people worldwide are living with a spinal cord injury (in Canada there are over 86,000).  In 2014, $4.1 million was raised globally in the first ever Wings for Life World Run. Globally the participating runners, lapped the world 13 times. The furthest distance run in Canada was 46.8 km and the furthest distance run was in Etiopia – 74.67 km (incredible).

Are you ready for the challenge? Register at www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com/registration. 100% of the proceeds are going directly to the Wings for Life Foundation in support of spinal cord research.

Book your accommodations at one of the top 4 star Niagara Falls Hotels. At the Courtyard by Marriott Niagara Falls, we’d like to offer a 10% discount on accommodations to all participants. Book your Niagara Falls guest room at www.marriott.com/IAGCY and enter the special promo code D3Q.  We are also going to offer all participants a 20% discount off all food at our Niagara Falls restaurants, The Keg Steakhouse + Bar and T.G.I. Friday’s because after all of that running, you are going to be hungry.

Follow along and be part of this amazing event:

Romantic Things to do in Niagara Falls

Romantic Things to do in Niagara Falls

With February comes the big Hallmark Day we all know and either like or dislike (Valentine’s Day). However our belief is why do you have to dedicate one day of the year to tell your special someone you love them? So rather than focusing on one day, we’ve dedicated the whole month of February to celebrating the one(s) you love. Plus if you live in Canada, we certainly need something to celebrate in February, because let’s be honest with ourselves, we’re all silently (or maybe loudly) counting down to Spring.

Here are all the fabulous romantic things to do in Niagara Falls with your favourite someone:

Afterwards, enjoy a warm cup of soup from The Good Earth, while sitting outside by the fire. $30 per guest, exclusive of taxes. Includes snowshoes, guided trek, wine tastings, and a Thirty Bench souvenir GoVino glass to take home, as well as a warm cup of soup from The Good Earth.

Chicks and Chocolate – Peller Estates Winery

Plus learn how the two in combination complement each other and can awaken your senses (the educational aspect and the antioxidants from the chocolate (if dark) and wine will make you feel good).

For the Love of Food – Niagara Falls Restaurants

For all the steak and seafood lovers out there, come and celebrate the month of love at The Keg Steakhouse + Bar, located in the lobby of the Courtyard by Marriott Niagara Falls. Start with some shareable appetizers, such as Mushrooms Neptune or the Baked Brie. For the main course, you can never go wrong with the Keg classics: Prime Rib, Top Sirloin or a Filet Mignon (this is making me hungry just writing about it). End your romantic evening with their famous Billy Miner pie, crème brulée or sweet minis (fudge brownie, butter tart and mango brulée) and be sure to ask for two spoons.
